Fresh off a wire-to-wire battle with the PBL #1 seed, Lancaster Thunder, the Dream looked to use that momentum as they hosted their long-time PBL rival, the Chautauqua Hurricane, this past Saturday. The Dream came out firing on all cylinders to start the game scoring 31 first quarter points which included 5 threes from the hot shooting duo of Chance Wright and Albert Varacallo III. The Hurricane bounced back in the second quarter trimming the Dream’s lead to 3 before halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Dream and Hurricane would take turns exchanging the lead with the Hurricane going up by as many as 12 points in the second half. The Dream would find their groove and mount a comeback in the fourth quarter to secure the victory and move into the #3 seed in the Northeast Division by a final score of 108-100. Leading the Dream in scoring was point guard, Juwan Willis, who finished with 33 points, followed by double-doubles by Albert Varacallo III (30 points, 14 rebounds, 8 threes), Chance Wright (20 points, 10 assists, 4 threes) and Tony Acrie (11 points, 16 rebounds).

When asked about the game, Rick Homer had this to say about the team, “I’m so proud of our team. Our guys never quit or gave up.  We can be down 10 or 12 points and our guys are just going to keep fighting harder and harder to close that gap. We had five guys out there at all times playing together as a team. When you have five guys playing together like that you can beat any opponent. What a win!”

The Dream will now be put to the test on the road as they face Chicago in a cross-divisional matchup this weekend before a rematch with the Hurricane in Chautauqua, NY, to begin the month of March. DuBois will come back for their final home game of the regular season and their annual “Kids Night” on March 12th which will be sure to be a packed house. Stay tuned for more info.
